On September 29, 2015 CableWorks, Inc’s HDD division completes Telecommunication Management, LLC’s Red River crossing, by horizontal directional drilling under the Red River alongside of LA Hwy 2, thereby connecting Caddo Parish and Bossier Parish with telecommunication services. The Bore was done at a depth of 28 feet below the bottom of the river bed and at a length of 1700 feet.
Horizontal directional drilling, or more commonly referred to as (HDD) got its start in the United States in the early 1970s, from using oil well drilling industry technology. By the mid 1980’s modern surveying and steering techniques were integrated into the process. Today directional drilling has become the preferred method for installing utility lines, ranging from large-size pipeline river crossings to small-diameter cable conduits. Through the years CableWorks, Inc. has been right there to incorporate this technology into its day to day operations. Currently at CableWorks, Inc. we install pipe/conduit (for various products) from 1 ½” to 36” in diameter.
